A message from our founder, Dave Dowling:
Along with founding Dowling Data Consulting, I consider my faith to be critical. My occupation is part of my relationship with God, and that relationship guides me in all aspects of my life.
I have found the answers to life's most important questions through my relationship with God. I possess true peace, not because of any good deeds I have done, but because God has reached down to lift my burdens.
Every day we choose our way or God's way. We often choose ourselves over Him; our wants and desires over the needs of others. The self-made person works hard to make something of himself or herself, frequently at the expense of a relationship with God.
Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables tells the story of a man named Valjean. After a bishop pardons him for stealing silverware, his life takes an unexpected turn. If convicted of the theft, Valjean would have been thrown in jail. The bishop's act of kindness and mercy causes Valjean to become a humble, honorable man committed to making amends for his past crimes by helping others. This is an excellent example of the power of God's mercy and grace.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith.” Ephesians 2:8
God shows us mercy and grace by offering us forgiveness for the wrongs we have done, and priceless gifts such as love, peace, and joy. He has told us our wrongdoings have consequences. This is where Jesus Christ enters the equation. He is the only sinless man who ever lived.
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
Jesus embodies the mercy and grace of God — mercy by allowing us to avoid punishment and grace by offering us gifts we don't deserve. God doesn’t offer His gifts of mercy and grace to "good" people. These gifts are available to anyone who reaches out and accepts them, receiving gifts such as love, peace, and joy.
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20
The way to God is made in and through Jesus Christ. He will save us and allow us to enter the family of God.
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" John 14:6
Knowing God is the most important aspect of my life, and it offers me hope beyond this difficult life. I know that I will live with God and get to know Him even better after this mortal life has ended. You can receive His love by asking for it.
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
